March News

1. The Faculty Senate meeting on May 22nd with a 2-hr early dismissal has been rescheduled for May 25th with a 2-hour early dismissal.  This is the last day for students and report cards will go home.

2.Our May “good behavior activity” is a field trip to the movies and Carnifex Ferry for fun and games and a picnic lunch.  It is planned for Monday, May 22nd.  Popcorn and a drink will be furnished at the cinema. Only students with good behavior for the month will be going.  We will be back at school for regular dismissal.  A permission slip will be forthcoming.

3.The fifth-grade students begin Smarter Balanced assessments next week, May 8 – 12. Please make sure your student gets a good night’s rest, eats a good breakfast at home or school and is ready to do their best on Monday morning.  Third graders will be testing the following week, May 15 – 18.

4. We are asking for the community’s help and support in keeping our playground safe and sanitary for our students.  The issue is dogs using the bathroom on the playground and students stepping, falling etc. in the feces.  Although we have signs posted, people are still bringing their dogs on the playground.  If the problem continues then the gates will be locked and No Trespassing signs will go up.  We want to keep the playground open to the community but we are responsible for student safety.  Please let everyone know DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE PLAYGROUND.

5. We are still taking orders for school yearbooks until May 11th.   The price is $12.00.  Please make checks payable to Mt. Lookout Elementary.
